Introduction to Quilting: Quilted Holiday Stocking

Make a treasured keepsake you’ll use year after year with this quilted holiday stocking pattern. This design is a perfect project for novice and experienced sewists. This stocking pattern features a traditional ribbon star block made from a square in a square and flying geese. Each student will receive a digital copy of the Quilted Holiday Stocking pattern.

    • how to thread and operate a sewing machine

    • how to sew a (mostly) straight line and maintain a seam allowance

    • how to create flying geese and square in a square blocks

    • basic piecing and quilting techniques

    • adding lining to your stocking

    • finishing techniques including topstitching and adding a hanging ribbon

    • ¼ yd (or fat quarter) of Fabric A (star)

    • 1 yd Fabric B (background)

    • (2) 14 1⁄2” x 20 1⁄2” pieces of cotton or wool batting

    • 5 ½” piece coordinating ribbon

    Juli will bring muslin for the lining, but you can bring a fabric of your own if you want to use something different. If you choose to go that route you will need:

    • 2 pieces of fabric 14 ½“ x 20 ½“

Ages 18 and up.
